Media Production

My first few weeks at university was a terrifying experience filled with a rollercoaster of emotions, though at first I was incredibly homesick I started becoming really close with my flat mates who are all really friendly and are starting to feel like extra family. I have also met lots of interesting and great people on my course; Media Production which I am greatly enjoying. So far I have been working in the TV studio learning how to control lighting, use the cameras and create sound for the shows we create in there. I have also been learning how to use the radio suites for recording presenters and editing the music that will go out live in preparation for our assessment. I have also been enjoying learning about design where learn how to create art such as collages and illustrations. During the first few weeks of university it will be natural for you to be nervous and homesick but I found that by creating a routine for myself it allowed me to focus on tasks such as cleaning or buying food which then kept my mind occupied. I also didn’t visit home for a month so that I could adjust more to Lincoln and not be unsettled travelling back and forth. I also joined a society so I could meet more people; I love Japanese Anime so I thought it would be a great opportunity. It was a really good opportunity to meet people who had the same interests as me. University is a great place to not only develops your skills needed for employment but it also develops you as a person giving you more social skills and confidence, which are invaluable. Overall I found university to be an amazing place where I can learn more about the thing I love while also meeting new people. Though I love living in Lincoln I still can’t wait to visit Hull for Christmas.
