Destiny on her way to being a teacher

When I applied for the JVENN application, I didn’t think anything of it. I just thought why not apply for it and see if I get it. I did not even plan what the money would go towards. When I found out that I did get it I was shocked and thought well I need to start managing what I need for university. Now I'm doing a Primary teaching course, so it takes a lot of creativity for the course to be done successfully. I didn’t just need pens and paper, I had to get a lot of arts and craft resources. Now part of my budget has gone towards things for my course to help me make the most of it. However, for me to make the most of the budget I had given myself, I would recycle a lot of my rubbish and paper. Now the reason I had to do this, is because I have come out of the foster care system, so I am used to going and living with someone and having everything ready and set up for me, so I only needed to bring my personal belongings in order to make the room my home. So, when I left that security network of the foster care system, to move into my own accommodation, I realised I did not have many things, just little things like a potato peeler and chopping boards. This JVENN grant has given me the opportunity to make my living arrangement my home, to make it easier for me to live independently. And without the generosity of John and the team I would not feel as confident and independent as I do. The JVENN is giving me a security network for me to live off. I am becoming more independent, learning how to drive and funding my driving lessons. This is helpful because it means that I can be more independent with university and my placements that I must do for this course I am on.
