Life under Covid-19

I currently have covid-19 which is not pleasant nor ideal as it is reading week at university. My experience of university is definitely not what I expected due to covid-19 but I suppose I have never experienced the ‘normal’ university experience so I can’t miss it.

However I have to say because my course is all online and I have not stepped foot into the university it is difficult to find your motivation as I am doing it all from home and all of my lectures are online which sometimes is not a great experience due to technical difficulties etc. The university has been great and have really tried to adapt to the new way of teaching and learning, creating tasks on your lectures with what is called break out rooms. Break out rooms are good to get involved in the lecture but also to meet people that are you on your course as you can see and speak to them which is really nice for the ‘social’ side of university as nobody can meet up from the course. Due to not been able to meet in real life there are several groups via social media with the people from my course so we have some interaction and try to get to know each other.

Overall it is a very strange and unexpected way of starting university but I have adapted and can not fault the university for their efforts to try and make it as normal as possible, I am excited for the day I can carry out my lectures in the university and not over a video call on my laptop.
